Fall & Winter Fashion Trends for 2021-2022
Published by Fruit of the Vine Online Boutique September 2021
As each new season rolls around, the expectation of new fashion trends is thrilling. I like to maintain staples in my closet, then pepper it with new, on-trend pieces. So, what are we to expect this fall? Here’s are a sampling of colors you should expect to see….(drum roll, please!)
Fall / Winter 2021 COLORS
Shades of Blue
Shades of Pink (Blush to Bubblegum and everything in between)
Yellow/Creams (Harper’s Bazaar describes the new hue as “Mustard meets Lemon”.)
Grey/silver
Greens – Olive / Kelly
From bright bolds to earth tones, Fall/Winter 2021 will be popping with color.
Let’s take a look at the predicted style trends for this upcoming fall season that are sure to make a fashion statement.
Sweater Vests
Both Sweater Vests and Cable Knit Sweaters are “must-haves” for the fall and winter. We’ve found a piece that incorporates both of these fashion statements, and can be worn both seasons! It’s available in grey, which is one of the on-trend colors for 2021-2022. Wear this piece with only a cami underneath while it’s still warm outside, or with long sleeves underneath once we get a little chill in the air. A crisp white blouse underneath looks oh-so chic. A fitted long sleeve top (like ours from Elietian – so soft!) would look great as well. Because grey is a neutral, a fitted long sleeve in most any color will pair well, but we’re loving the grey/white and grey/black classic look combo. Pair this sweater vest with black or blue denim and you have the perfect outfit for a day out and about, a ball game, or even a business causal event. Also pair this sweater vest with a skirt or slacks for a dressier look.
Fringe
I am a huge fan of fringe. My old, more “conservative” self was afraid to try it, but since I gave it a whirl, I haven’t turned back. Fringe boots, fringe tops, fringe sweaters…..even fringe handbags like this one. Fringe makes a statement and gives you an air of confidence. This beautiful teal leather purse with gold feather accents and black fringe is a shop stopper. (Added Bonus: Colorful leather is another trend for the season!). Carry this statement accessory with an all black outfit (either a black dress or black jeans and black top) and you will undoubtedly turn some heads!
Fringe statement earrings are also a nice alternative to a statement necklace. Pair these earrings with a rust-colored fall top, and you don’t even need a necklace. Once less piece to pick out on a hurried school/work day, right?
Lace
Our Gypsy South line is hand made in Atlanta, Georgia. My mom and I found this fledgling brand when we went to market pre-COVID, and the line has absolutely taken off. The owner hand dyes each of these pieces, and adorns them with beautiful jewels. There truly are no two pieces that are exactly alike.
The lace detail adds a beautiful feminine touch to a traditional button down blouse. The embellished sweater can be worn with anything from jeans to a fitted dress.
Leopard Print
Haven’t you heard? Leopard is the new neutral! Seriously, it pairs with just about anything. We keep thinking that it will retire, but it always tops the list of the season’s hottest trends. Simply put, it is timeless. We have so many leopard print items, we will be featuring them in a website category all their own. Here is just a sampling of what’s to come.
Quilted Textures
Quilted textures have hit the runway in all forms this season – from jackets to bags. We couldn’t resist Haute Shore’s Jaime puffer tote. It’s a great size to tuck away child-friendly essentials, a small laptop, or all the things that mamas/grans need to carry while we’re out running errands.
I have the grey sweater vest & I love it! I have worn it with a fitted white and/or black turtleneck. Next time I wear it, I plan to wear a white blouse underneath.
