How to Easily Transition Your Outfit From Day to Night
Happy Friday beautiful friends! Have you been enjoying the warmer weather and sunshine this week? I know I have! Springtime always means being on the go a little bit more. Women today are dynamic and often lead busy lives. Whether you're a working mom, a college student, a full-time grandma, or you simply find it impossible to say no, you've probably over-committed at one time or another. Having so many things on our plate often means not having the time to do something as simple as change clothes in between activities. We've thought through how to easily transition your outfit from day to night to save you time and give you a little inspiration. When you have a solid base, changing out a piece or two can easily transform your look into something totally new. Whether it's date night or an evening on the town with friends, it's easier than you might think to transition from daytime duties to evening activities. Let's look at some general guidelines to transition your outfits from day to night, shall we?
1. Choose a Base Top
No matter how you choose to transition your day to night look, you will need to choose a base. This is the piece that will be consistent between both looks. You can choose a versatile top as your base to easily transition your outfit. For example, I've chosen our gorgeous Hot Pink Satin Puff Sleeve Top to style for a daytime and nighttime look. For the daytime look, I paired this top with our White Skinny Mini Fray Hem Jeans, our Silver All That Glitters Headband, our Silver Double Chain Bracelet, our Beaded Stud Hoops, and our Midsummer Slides in clear/silver. This look is adorable, fresh, and fun! The silver is bright and cohesive while the top is the star of the show. For the nighttime look, I paired the top with our Perfect Ponte Pants, our Queen Coin Toggle Necklace, our Pink and Black Bracelet Stack, and our Triple Drop 2.25" Earrings. This look would be exceptional with a pair of close toe espadrille sandals or black heels. The gold jewelry is a bit more luxurious and appropriate for the nighttime. The darker pant is also higher contrast and effortlessly turns this look into the perfect nighttime ensemble.
2. Choose a Base Bottom
A versatile pant that can go from day to night on its own is your best friend when it comes to transitioning an outfit. Whether it's jeans, a skirt, or shorts, when your bottoms are your base, all you have to change is your top! For example, I've styled our Charcoal Cross Hem Studded Jeans two ways. For the daytime look, I paired these jeans with our Open Knit Color Stripe Summer Sweater and our Olivia Turquoise Earrings. This look is bright and Springy for the daytime, creating a balance between the fun color of the top and the edge of the studded jeans. For the nighttime look, I went fully dark. I paired the jeans with our Satin Adjustable Strap Cami, our Brown Leopard Open Blazer, our Black Textured Leather Earrings, and our Black and Gold Beaded Bracelets. This look is monochromatic with the perfect added amount of drama from the leopard blazer.
3. Swap Out Your Accessories
If changing your top or bottoms is still too much, you can create a whole new look with the way you accessorize an outfit. Swap out your classic hoop earrings for an eye-catching pair of colorful hoops. Trade your dainty everyday necklace for a stunning statement necklace to create some drama and interest. Alternate your crossbody or tote bag for a sleek, classy clutch. For example, I've styled our super cute and versatile Blue Shift Dress. The dress is our base for the outfit. For the daytime look, I've paired it with our Handcast Cross on Freshwater Pearl Necklace, our Chunky Pearl Beaded Hoop Drop Earrings, and our blue Matte and Metallic Bead Stretch Bracelet Set. Over top, I layered our Kendrick Jacket in white. This look is fresh, simple, and classy, perfect for daytime. For the nighttime look, I kept the dress and jacket the same, but swapped the simple accessories out for our Coated Ball Hoop Earrings in fuchsia, our Hot Pink Wood Bead Necklace with Gold Leaf Pendant, and our Rhinestone Studded Cuff in fuchsia. The daytime look is simple and soft. The nighttime look is high-contrast and vibrant. And to think all we did was switch out the accessories! You could also wear the daytime look with white sneakers or a pair of sandals and the nighttime look with wedges or heels. For a purse, most of us carry a shoulder bag or a tote during the day. Our Isla Handbag in light taupe from Katie Loxton is a great daytime bag with loads of space and style. However, these types of bags can be cumbersome to carry around while you're out for the evening. Our Black Crossbody Clutch makes the perfect evening bag because it is compact, sleek, and versatile!
4. Amp Up your Makeup
Now by change up I don't mean completely redo, but rather add to and build on the base you already have. Typically for daytime wear, we default to neutral shades of eyeshadow - if we wear it at all - light blush, and a nude lipstick or lipgloss like our Paint! Light Up Lip Gloss in the shade Exposed. If you're running short on time to change your outfit, you can still create a whole new look by changing up your makeup. If you decide to rock a lighter eyeshadow for the daytime, try deepening it up by popping a darker shade of brown in your crease and adding a shimmer eyeshadow on top of your lid. If you're feeling brave, you can even draw on a quick eyeliner, either tight-lining the eyes or winging it out for a cat eye effect. These simple steps create further dimension that really draw attention to your eyes. If you opt for a nude lip during the day, go for a classic red lip or a bold pink lip for a nighttime look like our Mood Paint! Light Up Lipgloss in the shade Wild. It's such a simple change that can have a drastic effect on your look.
